Smart Thermostats for Novi homes

Novi grew quickly from the late 1980s through the 2000s, so many of its subdivision homes now have furnaces and air conditioners reaching the end of their service life together. Novi's two-story homes often have one thermostat in the main hallway and a hot upper floor. Smart thermostats with remote room sensors, combined with the right fan settings, are a practical first step before any duct changes.

Questions to ask before you hire

Whoever you hire for smart thermostats in Novi, get clear answers to these before signing:

Is this thermostat compatible with my equipment?
Will you add a C-wire rather than use an adapter?
Will you set up heat pump or hybrid settings?
Will you show me how to set schedules?

Permits and licensing

In Michigan, installing or replacing a furnace, air conditioner or heat pump generally requires a mechanical permit and inspection, and the work must be done by a licensed mechanical contractor. In Novi, permits are handled by the City of Novi's building division. New electrical circuits are done by a licensed electrician under an electrical permit. We pull the permits that apply to your project.
