Smart Thermostats in Troy

Smart Thermostats for Troy homes

Troy is largely built from the 1960s through the 1980s, with neighborhoods of ranches, colonials and tri-levels alongside a busy office and retail corridor. In older Troy homes, thermostat wiring is often a thin two-wire cable with no common wire available. We run new cable where needed so the smart thermostat has steady power and the system behaves reliably.

What's included

Smart and programmable thermostat installation, wired and set up correctly for furnaces, heat pumps, hybrid systems and humidifiers. Depending on your home and equipment, the work can include:

• Wiring
• Heat pumps and hybrids
• Multi-stage and variable equipment
• Accessories
• Remote sensors
• Setup and walkthrough
• Compatibility.
• Features you'll use.
• Utility programs.

Full details, how the work runs and common questions are on our main smart thermostats page.

Local conditions in Troy

Troy's older equipment benefits most from regular maintenance, and its commercial buildings need planned service on rooftop units. Yearly checks keep both running safely through Michigan winters and humid summers.

Questions to ask before you hire

Whoever you hire for smart thermostats in Troy, get clear answers to these before signing:

• Is this thermostat compatible with my equipment?
• Will you add a C-wire rather than use an adapter?
• Will you set up heat pump or hybrid settings?
• Will you show me how to set schedules?

Permits and licensing

In Michigan, installing or replacing a furnace, air conditioner or heat pump generally requires a mechanical permit and inspection, and the work must be done by a licensed mechanical contractor. In Troy, permits are handled by the City of Troy's building department. New electrical circuits are done by a licensed electrician under an electrical permit. We pull the permits that apply to your project.
