Indoor Air Quality in Novi

Indoor Air Quality for Novi homes

Novi grew quickly from the late 1980s through the 2000s, so many of its subdivision homes now have furnaces and air conditioners reaching the end of their service life together. Novi's newer, tighter homes tend to struggle with stale air, window condensation in winter and dry air from long heating cycles. Fresh air ventilation and properly controlled humidifiers do the most good in these houses.

What's included

Filtration, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, ventilation and air cleaners that work with your furnace to improve the air you breathe. Depending on your home and equipment, the work can include:

• Better filtration
• Whole-home humidifiers
• Dehumidification
• Fresh air ventilation
• UV lights
• Symptoms first.
• Measure humidity.
• Check the system.
• Recommend the fewest products.

Full details, how the work runs and common questions are on our main indoor air quality page.

Questions to ask before you hire

Whoever you hire for indoor air quality in Novi, get clear answers to these before signing:

• What problem will this equipment solve in my home?
• What indoor humidity are we aiming for?
• Will this restrict airflow through my furnace?
• What ongoing filters or maintenance does it need?

Permits and licensing

In Michigan, installing or replacing a furnace, air conditioner or heat pump generally requires a mechanical permit and inspection, and the work must be done by a licensed mechanical contractor. In Novi, permits are handled by the City of Novi's building division. New electrical circuits are done by a licensed electrician under an electrical permit. We pull the permits that apply to your project.
