Ductwork for Novi homes

Novi grew quickly from the late 1980s through the 2000s, so many of its subdivision homes now have furnaces and air conditioners reaching the end of their service life together. In Novi's two-story subdivision homes, the classic complaint is a hot second floor and a cold basement. Builder duct systems often have too few returns upstairs and no balancing dampers, both of which are fixable without major work.

What's included

Duct design, repair, sealing and new runs that fix hot and cold rooms, weak airflow and noisy vents. Depending on your home and equipment, the work can include:

Airflow diagnosis
Return air upgrades
New runs and relocations
Sealing and insulation
Balancing dampers
Zoning
Find the problem.
Fix the biggest restriction first.
Quote in writing.
Re-test.

Local conditions in Novi

Tighter Novi homes tend to struggle with stale air and winter window condensation, while two-story layouts struggle with hot upper floors. Fresh air ventilation, balanced returns and humidity control are the usual fixes.

Questions to ask before you hire

Whoever you hire for ductwork in Novi, get clear answers to these before signing:

How did you find where the airflow problem is?
Which single change will make the biggest difference?
Will you re-measure airflow after the work?
Can the work be done in stages?

Permits and licensing

In Michigan, installing or replacing a furnace, air conditioner or heat pump generally requires a mechanical permit and inspection, and the work must be done by a licensed mechanical contractor. In Novi, permits are handled by the City of Novi's building division. New electrical circuits are done by a licensed electrician under an electrical permit. We pull the permits that apply to your project.
