AC Repair in Novi

AC Repair for Novi homes

Novi grew quickly from the late 1980s through the 2000s, so many of its subdivision homes now have furnaces and air conditioners reaching the end of their service life together. During Novi heat waves, outdoor units run almost nonstop, and capacitors and contactors are the parts that fail first. Cottonwood fluff and grass clippings also clog outdoor coils, which pushes pressures up and shortens component life.

What's included

Air conditioner repair for warm air, frozen coils, leaks, tripped breakers and outdoor units that hum but won't start. Depending on your home and equipment, the work can include:

• Blowing warm air
• Frozen lines or coil
• Refrigerant leaks
• Water leaks indoors
• Tripped breakers
• Noise
• Thermostat.
• Filter.
• Power.
• Outdoor unit.

Full details, how the work runs and common questions are on our main AC repair page.

Local conditions in Novi

Many Novi air conditioners are original builder units, and the older ones run on phased-out R-22 refrigerant. Replacing them with a matched system or a heat pump is the most common cooling job here, along with ductless units for bonus rooms over garages.

Questions to ask before you hire

Whoever you hire for AC repair in Novi, get clear answers to these before signing:

• What failed and why?
• If there's a leak, where is it and will it be repaired before recharging?
• What refrigerant does my system use?
• Is my system old enough that replacement makes more sense?

Permits and licensing

In Michigan, installing or replacing a furnace, air conditioner or heat pump generally requires a mechanical permit and inspection, and the work must be done by a licensed mechanical contractor. In Novi, permits are handled by the City of Novi's building division. New electrical circuits are done by a licensed electrician under an electrical permit. We pull the permits that apply to your project.
