AC Repair in Canton

AC Repair for Canton homes

Canton Township grew rapidly from the 1980s through the 2000s, from established subdivisions to newer neighborhoods like Cherry Hill Village, with older farmhouses at its edges. Canton's builder-installed air conditioners from the 1990s and 2000s commonly need capacitors, fan motors and drain line repairs. On larger homes, we also see frozen coils caused by too little return air upstairs.

What's included

Air conditioner repair for warm air, frozen coils, leaks, tripped breakers and outdoor units that hum but won't start. Depending on your home and equipment, the work can include:

• Blowing warm air
• Frozen lines or coil
• Refrigerant leaks
• Water leaks indoors
• Tripped breakers
• Noise
• Thermostat.
• Filter.
• Power.
• Outdoor unit.

Full details, how the work runs and common questions are on our main AC repair page.

Local conditions in Canton

Canton's larger two-story homes often have hot upper floors in summer, and many original air conditioners are near the end of their life. Proper sizing, return air upstairs and matched equipment do more than a bigger outdoor unit.

Questions to ask before you hire

Whoever you hire for AC repair in Canton, get clear answers to these before signing:

• What failed and why?
• If there's a leak, where is it and will it be repaired before recharging?
• What refrigerant does my system use?
• Is my system old enough that replacement makes more sense?

Permits and licensing

In Michigan, installing or replacing a furnace, air conditioner or heat pump generally requires a mechanical permit and inspection, and the work must be done by a licensed mechanical contractor. In Canton, permits are handled by Canton Township's building and inspection services. New electrical circuits are done by a licensed electrician under an electrical permit. We pull the permits that apply to your project.
