AC Repair for Troy homes

Troy is largely built from the 1960s through the 1980s, with neighborhoods of ranches, colonials and tri-levels alongside a busy office and retail corridor. On Troy's older air conditioners, we often find R-22 systems with slow leaks, worn contactors and condensate drains that clog every summer. When the repair involves refrigerant on an older system, we show you the replacement option alongside it.

What's included

Air conditioner repair for warm air, frozen coils, leaks, tripped breakers and outdoor units that hum but won't start. Depending on your home and equipment, the work can include:

Blowing warm air
Frozen lines or coil
Refrigerant leaks
Water leaks indoors
Tripped breakers
Noise
Thermostat.
Filter.
Power.
Outdoor unit.

Full details, how the work runs and common questions are on our main AC repair page.

Local conditions in Troy

Many Troy homes still run older air conditioners on discontinued R-22 refrigerant. Tri-levels and ranches with long duct runs often need return air and balancing work for even cooling, and ductless systems suit additions and homes with radiators.

Questions to ask before you hire

Whoever you hire for AC repair in Troy, get clear answers to these before signing:

What failed and why?
If there's a leak, where is it and will it be repaired before recharging?
What refrigerant does my system use?
Is my system old enough that replacement makes more sense?

Permits and licensing

In Michigan, installing or replacing a furnace, air conditioner or heat pump generally requires a mechanical permit and inspection, and the work must be done by a licensed mechanical contractor. In Troy, permits are handled by the City of Troy's building department. New electrical circuits are done by a licensed electrician under an electrical permit. We pull the permits that apply to your project.
