Boiler Services for Troy homes

Troy is largely built from the 1960s through the 1980s, with neighborhoods of ranches, colonials and tri-levels alongside a busy office and retail corridor. A number of Troy's older homes and custom builds still use hot water baseboard or radiant heat. Many are running on boilers sized decades ago, and a properly sized high-efficiency boiler can cut fuel use noticeably.

What's included

Repair, maintenance and replacement for hot water boilers and radiant heating systems, including high-efficiency combi boilers. Depending on your home and equipment, the work can include:

Repairs
Annual maintenance
Replacement
Combi boilers
Radiant floors
Cold radiators or zones.
Pressure creeping up.
Banging or gurgling.
Frequent short cycling.
Leaks or rust.

Full details, how the work runs and common questions are on our main boiler services page.

Local conditions in Troy

Troy's older homes mostly heat with gas forced air, with some hot water baseboard and radiant systems in custom homes. When a furnace moves to PVC venting, the old chimney may be left serving only the water heater, which we plan for in the quote.

Questions to ask before you hire

Whoever you hire for boiler services in Troy, get clear answers to these before signing:

Is the boiler sized to my home's heat loss, or to the old boiler?
What venting and condensate changes does a high-efficiency boiler need?
Will you check the expansion tank and relief valve?
Would a combi boiler work for my hot water needs?

Permits and licensing

In Michigan, installing or replacing a furnace, air conditioner or heat pump generally requires a mechanical permit and inspection, and the work must be done by a licensed mechanical contractor. In Troy, permits are handled by the City of Troy's building department. New electrical circuits are done by a licensed electrician under an electrical permit. We pull the permits that apply to your project.
